Apart from finance, technology, the specific humanity and aesthetics of Shanghai contributes to the special aura of this city, making it a poetic place for the dwellers.
“沪 (Hu) are you” 2019 Poetry Interdisciplinary Festival is an international poetry gathering and a super cultural event with diversity and creativity. In this special event that communicates the East and the West, the modern and the ancient, we will explore the city with poetry, movie, and music. With the melodic poetry, we get to converse our souls in the transcendent poetic field.

“Poetry Comes to the Museum” is the educational program established in 2012 by Shanghai Minsheng Art Museum. By far, this program has invited over 80 poets from more than 30 countries and regions. The poets of different backgrounds and languages interact with the audience, constructing a lively poetry gathering with energetic diversity. On Nov. 27, 2019, poets Renato Sandoval Bacigalupo, Anastassis Vistonitis, Krisztina Tóth, Jen Bervin and Chinese poets, artists, and musicians are going to share their insight of poetry and life. Togethr, they will add to the humanity aura of Shanghai.

The Poets

Renato Sandoval Bacigalupo 

Renato Sandoval BACIGALUPO (Peru) has published ten collections of poetry which has been translated into Danish, English, French, Finnish, German, Italian and Portuguese. He runs the Nido de Cuervos (Crows’ Nest) Publishing House as well as international literary magazines Evohé and Fórnix. He has been the director of the International Poetry Festival in Lima (FIPLIMA) and the director of the Editorial Fund of the Ministry of Culture of Peru. In 2016 won Copé Bronze National Prize for Poetry. He studied Hispanic Literatures and Linguistics (Master of Arts) at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and completed his doctoral studies in Romanic Philology at the University of Helsinki, Finland. Sandoval has taught at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and Ricardo Palma University.

 

Anastassis Vistonitis

Anastassis Vistonitis (Greece) was born in Komotini, Northern Greece. He studied Political Sciences and Economics in Athens and Philosophy in Thessaloniki. From 1996 to 2001, he was a member of the board of the E.W.C. (The Federation of European Writers). From 2003 to 2007, he was the Vice-president of the E.W.C.. Vistonitis has published twelve books of poetry, four volumes of essays, five travelogues, a book of short stories and a book of translations of the Chinese poet Li He. Vistonitis was the General Editor of the candidature file of Athens for the Olympic Games of 2004. His writings have been translated into 20 languages. He writes for the leading Greek newspaper To Vima and lives in Athens.

 

Krisztina Tóth 

Krisztina Tóth (1967) is one of Hungary’s most highly acclaimed poets and writers. She has published many volumes of poetry, several collections of short stories and children’s books, and a novel, Aquarium, which figured on the shortlist of the German Internationaler Literaturpreis in 2015. Tóthis the winner of many prestigious awards, her works having been translated into more than ten languages. Her short story collection Pixel is forthcoming in English (Seagull Books). She lives in Budapest where, apart from writing, she leads seminars on creative writing. She is a noted translator of literary fiction, children’s literature and song lyrics from French.

Jen Bervin

Jen Bervin is a Brooklyn-based visual artist and writer whose works often combine strong conceptual elements and a minimalist’s eye for the poetic and essential. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in more than thirty collections, including The Walker Art Center and The J. Paul Getty Museum. She has published eight books, including Emily Dickinson: The Gorgeous Nothings, named a Best Book of the Year by Hyperallergic and The New Yorker. Jen Bervin’s work receives support from Creative Capital and the Rauschenberg Foundation.
