The guest poet of the 65th “Poetry Comes to Museum” is Ye Hui, who has been focusing on the hidden secrecy of the daily mundane in the southern towns. Ye Hui provides a unique perspective at stimulating the growth of daily object in contemporary Chinese poetry. As a seclusive observer leading a slow life within an era filled with “rushing wolves and evil boars,” Ye Hui respects the mystery of things by reshaping the shades of objects. On a far-off path, he walks with the patience of a snail. Be it gentle or mysterious, his poetry is consistently obsessed with himself. Aside from inner exploration, Ye Hui weaves the animistic eye into poetry, with connotation and imagination, solidifying and expanding his lyrical subjects. In his opinion, “A poet who sees no reflective shine of the past generation in daily routine is a poet short of hope. Without this hope, all you see will be misery and pain.”
