“Love once begun, will never end.”
The love for art once begun, will never end, either.

The new Minsheng Talk project “Chit-Chatting” invites curators, artists and scholars to talk about art in a relaxed way with no restrictions in forms and subjects. Through sharing where they started their love for art, the participants reveal multidimensions and multilayers of life. The project aims to bring out diverse conclusions rather than a monotonous one through free talk. In this way, the participants’ figures are vividly restored, showing a kaleidoscopic perspectives for the audience.

The first Chit-Chatting “New Topopholia” is based on the representative work of Tuan Yi-fu, Topopholia. In his book, he illuminates how human and nature can complement each other. Artists Zhang Wenxin and Mao Chenyu create works that provok mediations on nature, land, and life. They are the guests for the first Chit-Chatting host by Sun Qidong. For this event, they will discuss the possibility of emotional connection between human and nature.

The political perspective of modernity is based on the conception of enhancing nature, conquering nature, and endlessly acquring from nature. Therefore, a political society with freedom, equality and prosperity desired by the individuals in the modern time are considered a liberating sphere that may save all humans from the heaveiness of the world, especially in a time of industrial development.

However, this contract between the idea that all people share the fruits of progress and the aspiration for sustainable development of human society is now being questioned due to climate change and the destruction of ecological balance. Therefore, we shoulder the responsibility of broadening the horizon for the dream of liberation, for the unlimited expansion of industrial capitalism has been proved to be illusion.
