Poetry Comes to Museym XLII: Meet the Poetry of Chen Li
Chen Li, born in 1954 in Hualian, Taiwan, and graduated from English department of Taiwan Normal University. He has been a teacher for over 30 years, and he is the planner of Taiwan “Pacific Poetry Festival”, viewed as one of the most creative and surprising poets. He has authored collections of poems, proses, music reviews, etc., and translated over 20 poems collections, including poem collections of Wislawa Szymborska, Carol Ann Duffy, and Cesar Vallejo, as well as Veinte poemas de amor y una canción desesperada by Pablo Neruda. The awards he has received include Taiwan China Times Literature Award (First prize of narrative poem), First prize of New Poetry, United Daily News Literature Award (First prize of New Poetry), Taiwan Literature Award, Jinding Award, Liang Shiqiu Literature Translation Award, etc. He was entitled “Top 10 Taiwan Contemporary Poet” in 2005, invited to London Olympic Poetry Festival in 2012, and the 2014 International Writing Program of University of Iowa, 2015 Athens World Poetry Festival, Singapore Writers Festival, and Hong Kong International Poetry Night, and 2016 “Spring of Poets” in France.
